    • NYC MidnightNYC Midnight hosts many competitions throughout the year. Since 2002 they’ve challenged participants from around the world to create original stories, screenplays and films using assigned prompts while under specific time restraints. If you are up for a creative challenge, I urge you to give this a shot. It’s not only a challenge, but you can meet some great writers, too.     • Sketch 22Sketch 22 is a collaboration for local writers, actors and directors. The week of the show goes as follows: On Friday at 10pm, 10 groups of writers receive their randomly chosen assignments. They choose one of 3 Locations and 3 Situations. Then they write a short 5 to 7 page sketch using the amount of actors assigned to their skit. At noon the next day, 10 directors draw one of the scripts and the amount of actors needed from a hat. The directors and actors are not allowed to perform in any sketches they may have helped write. The the 10 groups break off to rehearse and go over blocking on stage. At 7pm, there is a live show showcasing all 10 sketches that were put together just 22 hours earlier. Sketch 22! Brought to you by my close friend, Patrick Schmitz.
